Just As I Am

Soaking my tensions in the bath tonight, I was feeling overwhelmed.

Another birthday party coming up to plan for, a "mother/daughter" date to plan for, a sick baby (mine) to pray for, wondering when I will get to spend time with my husband, not to mention my mile long to do list on my desk under piles of paperwork and phone calls I haven't got around to.

Not to mention the plans my husband and I have made for more "family worship time", that seem to have been put on hold since the crazy summer and really haven't resumed. (Guilt)

And sweetly, He sang to me:

"Just as I am...."

Then some relief.

After looking up all the verses on Cyber Hymnal, I found myself reading.......with feeling:

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Hath broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, of that free love
The breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
Here for a season, then above,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

One of my favorite hymns... for it is a true comfort to be held "just as I am."
