Christmas blogging break...take one

I don't know why it's neccesary to tell your blog readers that you will be taking a break...maybe it's to really make me take the break, or perhaps it's just good manners. I mean, it's not like I'm a predictable blog poster--I do it when I can! You all are so forgiving. :)

But, yes, I am taking a little break. This week I want to get it all done, so that the week before Christmas we can relax, reflect, make cookies and fires, read our Christmas books, and all that fun stuff. I'm hoping for that, anyway.

In the meantime--while I'm gone--will you drop me a line? Faithful readers, somewhat faithful readers, lurkers, people I do not even know read...you get the picture. Say hi and/or introduce yourself--and tell me your favorite Christmas song. Mine is "O Holy Night". I look forward to it!

Sometimes when I see bloggers taking a break I offer a little prayer for a breath of renewal & peace--so it's nice to know.

Favorite Christmas song--(religious)O Come, O Come Emmanuel, (secular)a toss-up--Silver Bells/Holly Jolly Christmas.

Be blessed!

Oh, how I love Tasha Tudor Christmas pictures... they evoke such a nostalgic, cozy feel in my heart. :)

My favorite carol is "We Three Kings". It is haunting, and as a child, this fascinated me. I loved listening to "Amahl and the Night Visitors" on a record, too, and when those wise men sing... chills.

Love you, friend. Have a wonderful week preparing - I will be praying that all things go as He wills, and that you hear His knock over the hustle and bustle...

Enjoy the break!

My favorite song at present? Away in the Manger. The mental image of the Christ-child, my savior, sleeping in a trough in a drafty barn. This image keeps me going in a world that has all but forgotten Him this season.

Blessings on your family during this season of advent!

"Hark the Heard Angels Sing" (is that the real name). SGM has a new-ish Christmas CD and I love the song "Hope Has Come"
And then I love "White Christmas" by good ole Bing...especially when it is snowing and there is eggnog on hand.
have a great break.

Have a wonderful break, Andrea.
My favorite Christmas song of all time is O Come, O Come Emmanuel, but the Baby and I have been belting out some pretty great versions of Jingle Bells on our walks around town recently.

It's really hard to pick a favorite (I love them all!), but I think I'll have to say "Oh Come All Ye Faithful".

Have a nice break and blessed preparation time. :)

Hi Andrea, I am a non-blogging lurker that found you through Amy's Humble Musings. I always feel too rushed and crazy-busy to write.....I love to just read for a minute here or there and feel comfort in knowing that there are other mothers out there that have a similar perspective to mine.

My favorite carol is Away in a Manger...it has such a lullaby quality and is perfect bedtime music to sing to the littles all year!

Thank you for the thoughtful encouragement you give on your blog!

How could I forget my *real* favorite? "Oh come, Oh Come, Emmanuel". I heard it this morning in Walmart and couldn't rest until I reported it here. :)

I used to feel I should say something too. Now, sometimes, I just disappear for a little while.

Favorite song? Same as yours. Sung with harmonies, of course.

Andrea,
I am refreshed by your blog. I have been offline for weeks and your blog is probably the main thing I have missed outside of day-to-day informational needs. The AO loop is the other thing! My husband and I love "O Holy Night" too. Our oldest is 5 and what a precious time Christmas is. We love the books, music, carolling, church specials, gingerbread house...I LOVE your idea about the Christmas cards. Must do for us. We have done that, but not so formally. I am concentrating this year on what Jesus would want for His birthday....doing unto the least of these. But also, simply enjoying beauty and fun as a PERSON made in God's image. I also think too much! A Christian friend told me that she tries to never overthink ANYTHING. Psalm 121 helped this morning about God not letting us choose the evil way, I believe that was it. I didn't mean to write so much! Love Mrs./Miss? Tudor's pictures as well. Victoria currently has pictures of her 18th century dress collection that will take your breath away. I will mail it to you if you want. mbaria@bellsouth.net

Andrea, Got a moment to see what's going on with you. Miss you! Had a friend (single and loves to bake cookies) come over today to bake cookies with my kids because it's not my favorite thing to do and quite overwhelming with 4 and being pregnant. But they love it and it was fun for all. My favorite christmas song is actually the one by Amy Grant called "Breath of Heaven". I just close my eyes and take in the scene and so find myself relating to Mary wondering "if a wiser one should have had my place. But I offer all I am.." We're really loving celebrating this advent season. Would love to chat with you more!

I'm catching up on my blog reading since all six of us passed the stomach bug around last week, so I'm just now getting to this one, so how about my top three favorites (I couldn't narrow it down to one): Silent Night, What Child is This, and O Little Town of Bethlehem. I just love Christmas carols!

Roberta said...

looks like your break's over but I'll join in. :)
Since a small child "What Child is this", and "Away in a Manger" (even if it's always way too high or way too low.)
